There is one person in this world who has known me just about 9 months longer than anyone. If you were to ask Travis about our time in our mother's womb, I'm confident that he would express some harbored bitterness about how I squished him thereby causing him to suffer being born with a crooked foot. What can I say... it was close quarters for 15 lbs of baby. If things were so bad in the womb, don't you think he would be in a hurry to get out? It was ME who escaped the dark cave 11 minutes before he did.
Growing up with a twin is a unique experience. Growing up as boy/girl twins is even more unique. When you're a twin, you're always "the twins." You don't have separate classrooms at school, you are always associated with one another. That was especially tough in Junior High. I remember one day, Travis and I came out dressed for school wearing the same t-shirt. I changed mine. We didn't really get along very well and we didn't really try to get to know one another. I think it would be safe to say that this continued for several years after middle school until we were into our twenties for sure.

When I think of Travis, I think about lost time. Over the past 6 years or so, we have had the opportunity to get to know one another pretty well. I only wish I would have invested more in our relationship sooner. I have grown to love deeply and truly respect the man that Travis is becoming. He's been through a lot in his life and I know that he is going to be stronger in the end because of it. It has been really neat to see him grow into his role as a father to Lily and Eli and especially recently in his role as a husband. I honestly feel like I can't spend enough time with him. Trav- forgive me for not investing more in you when our bedrooms were next door to one another, when we carpooled to school in your old Sentra listening to that Bright Red Carpet song, when you needed me to care more about you than I cared about myself.
I love you! I love who you are and who you are becoming. It was really hard to see you go through things like Grandma's death and then this year, losing Chad. The compassion that you have and the brokenness in your heart for your loved ones is true and great. I love laughing with you, and crying with you and there is NO ONE that I would rather turn 30 alongside. I love you, Brother.

I really don't know what to say but that you can really pull my heart strings and I think they are attached to something irritating my eyes...I really do regret that we didn't spend enough time together growing up and I am truly enjoying finally getting to know you better...if I said that I was never jealous of your friends you had growing up I would be lying...not jealous that you had more friends than I but jealous of the time that they got to spend with you...Don't get me wrong I am not trying to make you feel bad it was both of us neglecting each other...anyways I am rambling...I love you so much and I truly look forward to turning 30 with you (even if I am only 28) :-)
